A short hop round Rubha Coigach and across Enard Bay took us in to
Lochinver by 1000, where we tied up at the now extended pontoons in the
harbour. The weather was perfect, warm and sunny after a cool start, so
we spent most of the day relaxing and reading in the cockpit, save for a
walk round the village bay. The Skipper bought a nice wee book "Of Big
Hills and Wee Men" which tells of the adventures of some Clydeside boys
on the Munros at much the same time as his own earlier days. Next
morning, the early bus took the Mate to Ullapool and dropped the Skipper
near Inchnadamph for an ascent of the Marilyn Beinn Reidh. With only 2
1/2 hours before the return bus, it needed a bit of a push, but was
comfortably done. Back aboard by 1115, a mist descended for a few hours
but cleared later to restore the view of the dominating peak of Suilven.

Hello there! We are now in Oregon and catching up a bit on internet and email business, i.e. pleasure!
First I just l-u-u-u-ve your photo! I recognise the ?fish plant building in the background. I see the sky is blue. My memory of being tied up there in that location was of not being tied up. I was in the water having fallen in while trying to cleat the warp. Everyone else was trying to get SnM back to the dockside in the exceedingly strong crosswind that had pushed her right angles to the wharf. Ho hum…. I hung on to the neighboruing boat’s warp and evetually – when the important stuff was completed – was hauled up and out of the water!
Still in my wet weather gear, I headed into the Fisherman’s Mission to change. Heaven! A shower, dry clothes and wait for it … the best scones, fresh out of the oven that I have EVER tasted!
Anyhow, before I go … Iain and I are reading your AMS book Maggie and it has been a life-saver. There simply were no bookshops around us in Vegas! Today in Ashland, Oregan, there are lotsa bookshops, art galleries, eco-shops. This lovely town is a sort of spa town with theatres and art galleries. Eat your heart out Maggie. (M-m-m-m saw a couple of nice jewellery stores too….)
We are booked to see MacBeth at 1 pm today.
We arrive home on Saturday and I know one man who will be chomping at the bit to get up a hill!
